Klonopin
Klonopin (clonazepam) is a prescription medication that is in the benzodiazepine family of drugs and is a central nervous system depressant. Klonopin is a common medication that is prescribed by medical professionals in the treatment of acute anxiety, panic and sleep disorders. Because this medication is addictive, usage of this medication is not recommended for a prolonged period of time, because individuals will become tolerant to the medication which can lead to substance abuse.
Some of the effects associated with Klonopin use or abuse include: memory problems, tiredness, muscle aches or weakness, drowsiness, dizziness,lack of balance or coordination, slurred speech, loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, nervousness, sleep problems (insomnia) and weight changes.
Individuals who are addicted to Klonopin should not discontinue the use of the drug without first consulting a medical professional because the side effects of withdrawal can be dangerous to them. Some of the common side effects associated with Klonopin withdrawal include increased anxiety or agitation, blurred vision, decreased concentration, decreased mental clarity, depression, diarrhea, headache, heightened awareness of noise or bright lights, hot flushes, impaired sense of smell, insomnia, loss of appetite, loss of reality, muscle pain or cramping, increased respiration, seizures, tremors, and weight loss.
