Darvocet
Darvocet is a prescription painkiller medication that is a combination of the drug propoxyphene and acetaminophen. The two drugs interact with each other in order to provide better pain relieving effects than the drugs provide by themselves. The acetaminophen that is in Darvocet works chemically to increase the effects of propoxyphene when combined together. Darvocet is a commonly prescribed by medical professional as treatment in the pain management of arthritis and other painful conditions.
Prolonged use of Darvocet can lead to an addiction to this medication and some of the common side effects include nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, constipation, dry mouth, dizziness or lightheadedness, sweating or itching, muscle twitching, decreased urination, and decreased sex drive. Some more severe side effects of Darvocet are an allergic reaction, slow or weak breathing, difficulty breathing, cold and/or clammy skin, severe fatigue, severe weakness or dizziness, loss of consciousness, and yellow skin or eyes.
Darvocet withdrawal symptoms will occur after an individual uses the drug for a long period of time, has become tolerant to the drug and is both mentally and physically dependent on the drug. Symptoms of withdrawal can include anxiety, depression, fever, sweating, muscle cramps and/or bone pain, sleep difficulties (insomnia), nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
