Ativan
Ativan is the brand name for the drug lorazepam, which is a benzodiazepine family drug that acts as a central nervous system depressant and is normally prescribed my medical professionals in the treatment of anxiety disorders and for sleep problems. Ativan is an addictive drug that can leave users both mentally and phsyically addicted in a relatively short period of time. With prolonged use, the individual taking the medication will become tolerat of the drug and have to increase the doseage in order to be effective. The longer Ativan is taken, the higher possibility of developing an Ativan addiction increases.
Some of the side effects for Ativan use include: loss of memory, depression, mood swings, lack of coordination, dizziness, headaches, lightheadednes, and a feeling general malaise or weakness.
Because Ativan is an addictive drug, withdrawal symptoms can occur when the dosage is decreased or if the individual stops taking this drug abruptly. Some of the common symptoms of withdrawal associated with Ativan abuse include: stomach pain and muscle cramp, depression, insomnia, sweating and shaking, nausea and vomiting, anxiety, depression, Increased heart rate, and hallucinations.
