Amphetamines

 

Amphetamines and methamphetatmines are drugs that are stimulants that create tolerance in users and can lead to an amphetamine drug addiction. Some of the common examples of amphetamines include prescription drugs like Aterol and Ritalin; substances like pep pills, and diet pills which can be found and bought in stores, and also includes street drugs like speed, crank, rock, crystal meth, crank and black beauties. These street drugs come in different forms such as powders and pills which are injected, snorted, smoked or taken orally.

The physical signs of amphetamine and amphetamine abuse will vary depending on the type of drug but most have the same characteristics. Some of the signs of abuse may include, alertness, confidence, excessive energy, talkativeness, restlessnes, feelings of power or superiority, nervousness, agression and hostility. Individuals who abuse amphetamines are at risk for overdose. Some of the signs of overdose from amphetamines include; fever, rapid or irregular heart beat, shallow breathing, high blood pressure, dilated pupils, dry mouth, sweating, tremors, stroke, heart failure. Some of the mental signs of overdose are confusion, agitation, paranoia, hallucinations, impulsive behavior, hyperactivity, apathy.

Individuals who abuse amphetamines and methamphetamines may experience withdrawal upon decreasing or ceasing intake of the drug, some of the common signs of withdrawal from these drugs include, a sluggishness or tiredness, depression, apathy, muscle aches, abdominal pain, hunger, fever, chills or tremors.
