Drug addiction is a devastating and serious problem that effects every aspect of not only the addicts life, but those people who surround them as well. The effects of drug addiction effects individuals on a physical, mental and spiritual level with some of the effects lasting long after rehabilitation.

The choice to enter into a drug rehabilitation program is a difficult decision to make, but is a huge step in the right direction. When seeking a rehabilitation facility for drug addiction, it is important to select a treatment center which can meet your needs. Individuals who have dual diagnosis should look for a program that includes not only detoxification and withdrawal program but also programs which are designed to work with any underlying psychological issues that led to the addiction, or were a direct result of drug abuse.

There are drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment centers that provide Inpatient rehab which is the most common program for drug rehabilitation and lasts approximately 30 days; long term inpatient rehabilitation, which is more intensive than regular inpatient rehab and lasts anywhere from two months and longer; day treatment for drug rehabilitation normally occurs during the work day, with the client leaving the facility at night and returning the next day and lastly outpatient rehabilitation which is the least intensive of therapies.

All programs for drug rehabilitation include the following elements of treatment including: stabilization -getting the body free of all toxins; assessment and psychological therapy, relapse prevention, and follow up support.
