Cocaine

 

Cocaine is a higly addictive drug that acts like a stimulant on the body and gives the user a feeling of high energy, and a feeling of euphoria. Cocaine comes in a fine, white, crystal like powder and can be injected, sniffed, snorted or smoked. Some of the common street names for cocaine derived drugs are coke, snow, blow, powder, flake, nose candy, big c, cane, crack and rock.

Cocaine can create a sense of exhilaration during the “up” period in the user where they will feel energetic, euphoric, carefree, alert, have a lack of appetite, and sometimes even feel as though they are invincible. While the initial effects of the drug can last anywhere from two to four hours, there is a downside of drug use which can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, sleepiness, agitation, paranoia and increase in appetite.

The physical signs ore tell tale signs of cocaine use include hyperactivity, and dilated pupils. Cocaine is a very potent drug which can be harmful to the user and lead to cardiac arrest, and seizures. Cocaine also increases blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature; it constricts blood vessels; and gives the user a feeling of restlessness, irritability and anxiety. Withdrawal symptoms can include fatigue, anxiety, irritability, lack of pleasure, sleepiness, and sometimes agitation or paranoia.
