Ecstasy
Ecstasy or MDMA (methylene-dioxy-methamphetamine) is an illicit synthetic drug that is used for its ability to enhance intimacy and social openness among users. Some of the street names for Ecstasy include: E, X, XTC, Adam, bean, bees, bromo, ecstasy, essence, Eve, love drug, M rave, roll, and venus. Ecstacy acts like a stimulant on the body and can be taken orally, intravenously or nasally. The effects of Ecstacy can last up to six hours.
Ecstasy has many effects on the body and can give the user a relaxed or euphoric feeling, reduce anxiety, and increase sensitivity and energy, but it also has a destructive toll on the body and some of the risks of abuse include: addiction, aggression, anxiety, blurred vision, brain and liver damage, chills and sweating, depression, mental disorientation, paranoia and insomnia.
Some of the symptoms of Ecstacy abuse include: muscle tension, teeth clenching, nausea, blurred vision, rapid eye movement, faintness, and chills or sweating. Ecstacy also increases the blood pressure and heart rate in those abusing the drug and can pose a risk for cardiac arrest in people who have problems with heart disease. Resent studies of those who abuse Ecstacy have shown that the drug has lasting effects and can lead to brain damage, problems with sexual disfunction, and other physical and mental problems.
